Sir Richard Branson, from the English Channel to Tulum beach
The famous entrepreneur Richard Branson, owner of Virgin Group, is back in kiteboarding world news. This time because just a week ago Mr. Branson, on its 61 years of age, achieved to cross the English Channel kiteboarding (from the English coast to the French coast). After a couple of failed attempts where he had to retire, he reached the French coast on July 2, becoming the oldest person to do so.
The feat was performed with his son Sam Branson, who a couple of days before had won the speed record crossing the Channel with a time of 2 hours and 18 minutes.
Once he reached the French coast, Sir Richard Branson toasted Champagne with his son and also had to explain to French Authorities why he had crossed the border irregularly.
The business man got the record with a Flexi Foil kite.
Richard Branson has been practicing the sport for years and is well-known in the kite scene, not only for his riding, but for having starred in several kite commercials with top models. One ad with lingerie firm Victoria’s Secret‘s super models and other photo shoot in which Mr. Branson appeared kiting and a nude model was hanging in his back.
If last week the British financial achieved a new record for his collection, this week he has been working and relaxing on the Ahau Hotel and the beautiful beaches of Tulum. Mauricio had the opportunity to talk a few minutes with him on the beach, and Richard Branson himself upload on his Facebook profile several photos that appeared in one of the world’s most beautiful places, Tulum.
