El Cuyo Kite Trip
El Cuyo is a colorful and little fisherman village in the Mexican state of Yucatan. With a population of over 1700 it is located inside the Biosphere Reserve of Ria Lagartos.
The town has an amazing natural appeal with an abundant presence of flamingos living in its surroundings lagoons.
When going to El Cuyo we depart from Tulum at 6:30 am, making a mandatory stop in Playa del Carmen to have a fresh and delicious Mexican breakfast at El Nativo. It takes around 2 and a half hours to get from Tulum to El Cuyo through the new highway.
North wind is not good for teaching Kiteboarding in Tulum, but it is awesome in El Cuyo with winds from 17 to 25 knots. The deserted beach and the steady wind during the whole day make El Cuyo the perfect place for kiting.
We are always wonderfully attended by our colleague and friend Beto, who owns the kite school in town, El Cuyo Kite House. No matter if you are an experienced kitesurfer or just a beginner, he is the man to contact.
This kite trip allows our Tulum clients to kite in a completely new spot and to discover a beautiful and natural new Mexican town with delicious seafood.
Welcome to El Cuyo amigos!
